Collection dates: 1st August and 15th August. There will be no other opportunities to collect outside of these dates.
Please ensure that jerrycans brought to be used for syrup are fit for the purpose – plastics that have been left out in the open all year will be mechanically compromised. If your jerrycan splits upon filling, you will be mopping it up, and you will not be refunded…
Large orders to be collected from the tanker in your own IBC will require special collection arrangements.
update: 29/6/26: Winter feed orders seem to be drifting to a halt, bulk syrup is ordered, and I shall be submitting the rest of the order (the palletised goods) tomorrow. At time of writing we have the remaining:
8 Fondant boxes (5x2.5kg) @ £21.20 per box
2 Fondant boxes (12x1kg) @ £21.20 per box
and 2 x 1kg packs 'candipolline gold'. @£3.75 per pack
David has also asked me to let you know that he has 4x 1kg sachets of candipolline left over from last year. They have a best-before date this autumn, so if you'd like them for a donation to association funds, please message me, or him, separately...

The Winter feed order is now ready and should have been sent to all our Suffolk Beekeeper members (via your association secretary or direct from Geoff if you ordered last year) - the supplies have been ordered and the form is up. It's a new person sorting it out and the new website through which the orders come has been re-engineered and re-platformed.
Every Sunday from 2-4pm, the Teaching at Apiary is open to all, to improve your skills, start your beekeeping journey, or just come and see if you like it. There are suits and gloves (bring wellies!) if you don't have your own. The first half hour is usually a talk and the full programme of week-by-week topics can be found under Associations, (choose Ipswich) then Teaching Apiary and the schedule is down the left of the page. There are three experienced beekeepers there each week, waiting to teach, help and answer your questions.
Everyone is welcome.
Update - due to (s)low take up by Ipswich members, we are able to take members from the other associations (by confirmation) rather than run the day with too few people - book early to avoid disappointment!
Our Annual Bee Safari is a great day. We visit the apiaries of members of the association, in a different area each year. It is really interesting to see how others are set up and the locations they are using. We have our National Bee Unit inspectors with us and they will lead and inspect all the colonies and point out instances of pests and diseases as we go.
Every year, Suffolk beekeepers take part in the School Farm and County Fair at Trinity Park. The event is organised by the Suffolk Agricultural Association, which even helps fund transport for the children travelling to Ipswich. More than 3,500 pupils from Years 3 and 4 attend, creating a wonderful “mini Suffolk Show” experience.
Our beekeeping stand is consistently one of the most popular attractions—and in 2023 we were even honoured with a royal visitor.
Anyone wishing to take part in the Bee Health Day needs to look under Learning, Teaching Apiary (IESBKA) to see the details of the day and how to sign up - it's an excellent practical day, in DALLINGHOO, not at the Teaching Apiary, consolidating learning and refreshing your skills; what to look for and how to read your bees, what to do - it's a practical day, with experienced beekeepers and David Burns, our seasonal bee inspector working with each of the groups
The annual BBKA Spring Convention featuring lectures, workshops and seminars, along with a trade show on Saturday, is a great event to attend, meeting up with other beekeepers; there is no shortage of people to talk to about our bees!
The Suffolk Show is one of the highlights of the county calendar and a good opportunity to showcase the skills and creativity of Suffolk beekeepers. With the 2026 Show on the horizon, we would like to encourage as many members as possible to consider entering honey, wax and confectionery classes. Although the Show is two months away, the best entries are rarely produced at the last minute.
Following the AGM, The West Suffolk Association hopes that members from all Suffolk branches will join them to welcome guest speaker Michael Bennett University of Reading on Nosema
